A cool autumn day met the 28 teams (56 players) on a testing but very well groomed Clearwater Golf Course in Christchurch. The Blue tee layout and the cool North easterly breeze ensured that the winners would need to be on their respective games with Mr Patience this 15th club.
As it transpired only the overall winners, local Clearwater Members Greg Coffey and Graeme Harris played better than their handicaps in recording a very good combined Stableford score of 77 points on the day. Respectably in the runner up position on 72 points were Neville Bamford and Josiah Murray, with the Waitikiri Club members Steve McCormick and Clarke Baldwin on 68 points completing the 3 available spots in NZWCGC final day set for May 21st, also to be held at Clearwater.
A most enjoyable post match function was hosted by NZ-WCGC licence holders Mike Gibson and local Golf Management specialist Mike Godinet, ably assisted by the Clearwater hospitality staff. Of special interest was a warmly accepted Wine tasting presentation from sponsor ARA Wines and their representative Paul Harre.
